The railroad meets a rural highway
or city street. Interests blend, depending on the
circumstances: tracks crossing the lonely road or a scene set in
urban stillnesses, or some other scenic setting.
And there is always either the prospect of a distant headlight; or the forlorn
enjoyment of
history -- of viewing tracks waiting to be ripped up and crossing
signs, taken down.
Some of the photos in this section go back considerably before
digital cameras and any public thought of an Internet.
With so many car miles traveled, I frequently do not remember
the location or date of the image. Such is the case here.
The farm buildings, bare trees, slightly bending lonely road and
dramatic sky add much interest to the railroad crossing
view. |
