In sharp contrast to the severe
image on the previous page in this series, this view is in lush
Mt. Rainier National Park, Washington. The road curves
gently. There is a sublime peacefulness, a lushness of a July day,
a day when the driver and passenger could forget about work
responsibilities and all kinds of petty issues. The driver
is retired now. The passenger is deceasad -- dead way too early
in her life.
One day the
nearby grand mountain will blow. It may be thousands and thousands of
years from now. Or it may be sooner. |
