Pointed Toward the Camera

This is  probably around 1949 or 1950.  I'm the little guy, and my brother is looking away.  It was almost always Mother taking the pictures then, and there weren't all that many childhood photographs made, as these family things go. 

We lived upstairs in a "two-family house" in the East Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn.  In this shot our car was somewhat further up the block from where we lived -- finding parking has long been an issue on the streets of the city.
